Something Blue, a major exhibition of British wedding dresses, runs at Manchester's Gallery of Costume from August 1 to March next year.

The exhibition features wedding dresses from the past 100 years

The wedding dress as we know it today originated from Queen Victoria, who wore white to her nuptials in 1840.

The show will demonstrate changes in style and construction over the years as well as offering a look at dresses worn by women across the class divide - from mill workers to ladies of leisure.
