A set of six magnificent 18th century Louis XVI armchairs saw the highest bids in the much-publicised auction of Oprah Winfrey's personal belongings, held at Kaminiski Auctions on November 2.

The sale comprised hundreds of Winfrey's items, including furniture, memorabilia and art, with the six chairs leading bids at $60,000.
In total, around $600,000 was raised for the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy Foundation College Fund, which helps graduates of her school in South Africa attend universities around the world.
One of the most dramatic sales of the day came from Cubist Women, an oil painting inscribed "To Miss Oprah Winfrey Herself" by noted African-American artist Margaret Taylor-Burroughs. Valued at $200-400, it sold for $13,000 - a 3,150% increase on estimate.
