A circa 1860 stately mahogany half tester bed has highlighted Stevens Auctions' sale of the contents of Green Gables, a mansion in Jackson, Tennessee.

Made by C Lee, the finely carved, youth-sized bed sold for an impressive $29,900 on June 29. Even Green Gables itself, described as "one of Jackson's stateliest and most historic Victorian mansions", sold in the auction for $250,000.
Also selling in the sale was a fine RJ Horner carved oak nine-tube grandfather clock from circa 1890, which brought $21,850.
Paul Fraser Collectibles has a magnificent collection of fine English furniture for sale, including pieces from John Linnell and Gillows of Lancaster.
