A rare Ty Cobb tobacco tin dating to the early 1900s is to cross the block at Manifest Auctions in South Carolina on July 13 with a $30,000-40,000 estimate.
Cobb (1886-1961) is one of the greatest players in the history of baseball and retains the world record for the highest career batting average.

The tin is one of only 20 examples known to exist, and is highly sought after among both advertising and sports memorabilia collectors.
The record for an item pertaining to Cobb was set in 2012, when a baseball bat from 1919 sold for $253,000 at an auction in Kansas.
