A group of three ceramic pitchers created by Pablo Picasso are to be auctioned in New Orleans on July 15.

The three pitchers offer a bargain compared to prices seen at Christie's

The auction house has high hopes for its latest consignment, after the record-breaking Madoura collection sale at Christie's on June 25 that saw four works comfortably beat Picasso's previous ceramic world record.

Picasso was first inspired to create his famed ceramics after seeing pieces from the noted Madoura Pottery displayed at a festival dedicated to the art in 1946. Over the next 25 years he frequently returned to the factory, creating a massive body of his own characteristic works in the process.

The three Madoura items at auction, entitled Visage, Cavalier et Cheval and Femme, offer a potential bargain for mid-range collectors looking to invest in the artist's unrivalled legacy, with each piece estimated at just $3,000-5,000 - a considerably low sum compared to the huge valuations seen for similar pieces at the Christie's auction.
