They are to be a part of Guernsey's Auctioneers and Brokers planned Beatles-themed auction with around 1,000 images of the Fab Four going under the hammer.
An interview with Astrid Kirchherr, with photographs |
Many of the photos date from the band's early visit to Germany and include early members Stuart Sutcliffe (bass guitar) and Pete Best (drums) as well as the final line-up including Ringo Starr. Kirchherr became engaged to Sutcliffe at the time.
The photographs include a mix of group and individual images. They run from The Beatles' very first trip to Germany in August 1960 to pictures Kirchherr took of the then-Fab Four group when it became famous in England, including shots taken during the 1964 shooting of "A Hard Day's Night."
Excitingly, the lots include not just the original photographs but also the copyrights.
These images are not the only ones by Kircherr to exist, of course. For example, this set of three early publicity postcards illustrated with individual black and white portraits is currently on the markets.

This will of course be the second significant sale of early Beatles photographs scheduled, with a set of pictures never seen before by Mike Mitchell which is to sell as Christie's later this month.
As for Guernsey's, the sale is expected to take place on September 17-18 in New York with a day's preview on September 16. The auctioneer is still taking consignments of any high quality Beatles memorabilia.
