Baroque Boulle console clock is set to go under the hammer in Vienna

Collectors of antique furniture and decorative art can look forward to a truly exceptional auction of about 250 objects from the estate of Prince Kinsky in Vienna.

The varied range to be offered also includes historical glass and porcelain and Klinkosch silver

A presentation of the collection is being assembled by the interior designer Philip Hohenlohe. In this presentation he is aiming to recreate the elegance of a fin-de-siècle salon and display the exhibits in this context.

Prince Kinsky (1936 - 2009) was the 11th prince of the house of Kinsky which originated in Bohemia. It is a particular one of his palaces located in Vienna city centre, from which this auction draws its lots.

The expected top lot is a baroque Boulle console clock, featuring a multi-coloured "contre-partie" Boulle case. It is known as 'The King in Paris' and features various complications, displaying days of the week, months, positions of the sun, phases of the moon and signs of the Zodiac.

It is expected to sell for €40,000-50,000.

One of the choicest fine art lots in the Vienna auction is a painting by Rudolf von Alt. This is a watercolour created in 1847 which depicts not only the stately palace but also The Freyung Square with the Austria Fountain. This is price at a quite reasonable €16,000-20,000.

The auction takes place on 28 February 2012. Watch this space for the results.
