Cadmus' delicate circa 1990 drawings John Reading and Sandy Reading also put in strong performances, selling for $10,800 apiece.
Cadmus (1904-1999) is an American artist best known for his tenderly and somewhat dreamily realised male nudes.
In March 2007, Cadmus' Reclining Male Nude brought $14,400 to Sotheby's, while a sketch depicting a young naked man sitting on a bench made $11,250, also at Sotheby's, in March 2008.
Swann Auction Galleries' Todd Weyman comments: "Swann's first standalone American Art auction included excellent examples by Paul Cadmus… with the overwhelming majority selling to private collectors amidst fierce bidding."
