A drawing by Edgar Degas, stolen by the Nazis in the 1930s, has sold for $511,129 at Osenat Auction House in Fontainebleau, France.
Degas' Trois Danseuses en Buste was found in the German embassy in Paris |
The work is titled Trois Danseuses en Buste (1898).
It was taken from the home of a Parisian doctor when the Nazis arrived in the city in 1940.
It was recovered from the German embassy in 1951 and spent some time in the Louvre, before being returned to the descendants of the original owners.
