The piece was expected to fare well as the cover lot of the auction, valued at $150,000-250,000. However, the vibrant oil on canvas work soared past expectations, making $374,500 - a 49.8% increase.
Also starring was Selden Connor Gile's Waggon Team and Barn, the largest of his works to be offered at auction since 2006, which made $110,500.
Frederic Remington's The Cheyenne, a bronze sculpture from the famous Western painter, sold for $80,500.
At this year's Coeur d'Alene Art Auction, a Remington work entitled Cutting Out Pony Herds sold for $5m to lead the sale.
