The photograph (one of an edition of 25) was executed in Japan in 1991 and is one of a long running series of seascapes Sugimoto began producing during the 1980s.
In each, the image is split in half by the line of the horizon. They are shot from a variety of locations, from the English Channel to the Arctic Ocean.
Sugimoto is among the world's most respected living photographers, whose highly conceptual work explores deep existential themes.
The sale will include "Lake Superior, Cascade River", and "Yellow Sea, Cheju" - both of which are valued at $20,000-30,000.
The Shiro Kuramata section of the sale includes pieces from across his successful career as one of Japan's top designers.
This includes a vitrine (display case) produced for Tokyo's Bub Yoshino beauty salon in 1976, which carries an estimate of $20,000-30,000.
