A major collection of photographs owned by the late financier Howard Stein is expected to auction for $13m-20m at Sotheby's New York on September 30.
Topping the sale is Alfred Stieglitz' Out of Window - 291 -NY (1915), which is valued in excess of $400,000.
The image is one of a number taken from the window of Stieglitz' apartment in New York.
Christopher Mahoney of Sotheby's told the Wall Street Journal that the work displays his mastery in the darkroom, as it's notoriously difficult to capture the intricacies of snow on film due to the darkness of the negatives.
Still he "was able to pull out this phenomenally detailed picture that somehow manages to be more than just a picture of a tree with snow on it".
Work by Stieglitz performed well last year, with a portrait of Georgia O'Keefe selling for $302,500 at Phillips in April. His A Portrait - Torso made $557,000 at Sotheby's in October.
Robert Frank's Hoboken is expected to make $100,000-150,000.

The image is drawn from Frank's photo-essay The Americans - a seminal work in the history of photography.
In April last year, his New Orleans (Trolley) from the same series sold for $293,000 at Sotheby's New York.
