Unit 6 from Ken Price's Happy's Curios exhibition (1972-1978) realised $293,000 at Phillips in New York on December 17.
The lot is one of 10 units from the show, which was held at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, and comprises eight ceramic "bombs" painted in acrylic with geometric, interlocking patterns.

Price described the work as a tribute to the Mexican ceramics he saw growing up close to the border in California.
We have this original 1967 poster from the California League of Sexual Freedom.
Two other major design sales took place at Phillips on December 17 - with a sculpture by Harry Bertoia achieving $521,000.
