A striking artwork by late Brazilian visual artist Lygia Clark, entitled Contra Revelo (Objeto N. 7), is expected to lead Phillips' auction of Latin American art.

The black and white paint on plywood creation is set to cross the block in New York on May 23. The piece is expected to bring $600,000-800,000.
Although works by Clark have previously proven popular at auction - her circa 1960 aluminium sculpture Bicho sold for $463,247 at Phillips in April 2010 - none has yet broken the $800,000 mark.
Having passed away in 1980, the value of Clark's work has risen steadily since. Critics argue that her artistic vision presaged the digital era.
