The lot depicts a shepherd on a hill and is one of a series of works that the artist painted featuring peasants or fellahas.

Said (1897-1964) lived the majority of his life in Alexandria in Egypt, where he served as a judge in addition to his work as a painter.

In 2012, his Pecheurs a Rashid (Rosette) made $818,500 at Christie's Dubai. Said's auction record stands at $2.4m - set for La Chadoufs at Christie's in 2010.
