The settings could be almost any home and region from the 1960s and '70s, with kids dressed up in crazy outfits, trying to play baseball with an awkwardly hefted bat, caught off-guard swigging… something… and generally captured in a series of friends and family moments by some dodgy camera work.

The identities of many of those grinning and gurning out of the pictures are unknown, but one of them is, and that makes all the difference between the album being of merely sentimental value and its being a valuable piece of memorabilia.

That's right: one of those present is a young King of Pop: Michael Jackson himself.

Listed as lot 322 in a 600 lot auction of rock and pop memorabilia which is being offered next week, the personal scrapbook contains over 40 colour and black & white private family photographs.

It is one of several pieces of Jackson memorabilia in the auction, which also includes highlights such as Jimi Hendrix's autograph, and has been given a modest estimate of just £2,500-£3,000.

It seems likely that it will sell for more than that, given the value placed on Michael Jackson memorabilia, especially since his death. According to the PFC40 Autograph Index, the value of a signed photo of Jackson increased in value by 60% last year alone.

The auction takes place in Bedford, UK on March 10.
