A rare early 19th century view of Jamaica by John Lynn (1828-1838) is to be sold at Bonhams as part of its Marine Sale on September 28.
The painting depicts the barque Woodmansterne, calling for a pilot upon her arrival at Port Royal, Jamaica, at the end of her 1829 maiden voyage.
It is believed to be one of only two views of Jamaica in Lynn's oeuvre - the other being in the collection of the National Maritime Museum, London. The work is estimated at £60,000-80,000.

According to Bonhams, the picture was commissioned by the ship's owners Blaksley & Co especially to commemorate the completion of the vessel's maiden voyage.
Elsewhere in the sale, two of views of Jamaica will also appear. One is Thomas Butterworth's HMS Blake leaving Port Royal, Jamaica, estimated at £6,000 - 8,000.
Also auctioning is William Dennis's A view of His Majesty's Dockyard at Port Royal, Jamaica, dated to circa 1810. It carries an estimate of £800 - 1,200.
Bonhams' auction will take place in London.
