Known as the Nelson Mandela Unity Series, the works feature Mandela's illustrations of hands which Tan has painted over with Buddhist symbols.
Giles Peppiatt, Bonhams' director of South African Art, comments: "The litho-paintings Bonhams is selling capture the strength, dynamism and character of this truly amazing man who was also belatedly a talented artist.
"Never did a single individual more powerfully symbolise the hopes of a nation."
