An original 1953 three tiered Peanuts comic strip by much loved American cartoonist Charles Schulz (1922-2000), featuring Charlie Brown and Patty, sold in New York yesterday (January 24) for $22,800.

The early strip features Patty, the first female character Schulz introduced, whose last appearance was in April 1976

Peanuts items, as well as collectibles related to the artist more generally, have previously put in strong performances at auction, with Schulz taking fourth place in Forbes' 2012 list of the highest earning dead celebrities.
