One of the main representative artists of Italian post-war concept art is appearing at a German auction house, Jeschke Van Vliet, on July 3.
Piero Manzoni's Untitled from 1956 comes from an artist best-known for his ironic conceptual art, especially influenced by the work of Yves Klein.
Throughout his career, Manzoni (pictured top right) tried many different techniques and materials.
In particular, he drew inspiration from Art Informal trends - otherwise known as Tachisme, the European equivalent to abstract expressionism.

Manzoni studied art and philosophy in Rome and Milan during his lifetime, rubbing shoulders with the likes of Alberto Burri, Lucio Fontana and Jean Fautrier.
Untitled is made from oil and tar on canvas and measures 40 x 30 cm. At the bottom right of the work is an incised signature by Manzoni himself. The whole work is framed under glass.
This important and absorbing work will auction in Berlin, and carries an estimated pre-sale value of €40,000.
