Swann Auction Galleries of New York is gearing up for its 19th and 20th Century Prints & Drawings rare art auction on March 8.
The auctioneer is still inviting "quality consignments" from art collectors. Given Swann's past form, and the calibre of works already consigned to auction, standards will be high.
Among the art pieces already set to feature is Georges Braque's Oiseau.
Along with his contemporary Pablo Picasso, Braque (1882-1963) played a crucial role in developing and establishing Cubist art in the 20th century.
This piece isn't from Braque's Cubist oeuvre, but rather one of his important bird paintings.

Braque's bird artworks stemmed from a period in the mid-'40s when the artist suffered from serious illness.
They depict birds in a kind of 'schematic form' as Georges admired the winged creatures' freedom and imagining themes of peace and escape.
This Oiseau art piece is dated to circa 1957-58, several years before the artist's death. It will appear in Swann's New York auction with a $200,000-300,000 pre-sale estimate.
This work is also signed. But the great news is that you don't need to be a millionaire to acquire a signature by the 20th century's greatest artists.
