It isn't only rare and exotic militaria that Bonhams is bringing to the home of the Golden Gate bridge...
This large pieced ivory vase of flowers will be among the highlights of the auction house's upcoming Himalayan, Indian and Southeast Asian Works of Art sale on August 30.
The vase's features include separately carved leaves and flower heads.
These are attached to branches rising from a tall vase with cash-patterned lattice work and loose rings, hanging from a pair of applied handles.

Dated to the 20th century, this piece is impressive for its fine detail - which even extends to the vase's interior which is filled with flowering branches (although one of these leaves is loose).
The whole thing measures 21inches (or 53cm) with its stand, and carries an estimate of US$5,000-7,000.
This vase has apparently passed through various top collections, and will undoubtedly find a similarly high-profile home when it sells at the end of this month.
Not surprisingly, many of the lots from Bonhams' sale are from illustrious collections.

The piece is of globular shape, supported by three five-talon feet. Measuring 10 1/4inches (26cm), it is estimated at US$3,000-5,000.
Each of these pieces, among many others in Bonhams' Himalayan, Indian and Southeast Asian Works of Art sale, demonstrate that you certainly needn't be a millionaire to put yourself in the market for rare and coveted artefacts.
And, despite the odd loose leaf, these pieces will surely bring both pleasure and profit to their new owners in years to come.
