Signed Picasso to sell in New York

A number of incredible original historic photos are set to auction at Swann Auction Galleries on February 11.

Alongside a rare portrait of Abraham Lincoln, bearing the former US president's signature, will appear the most influential artist and sculptor of the 20th century.

A postcard dated and signed by Pablo Picasso - signed simply "Picasso" - will go under the hammer with an estimate of $2,000-3,000.

The photograph, signed "Picasso", is dated April 25, 1958

The photograph shows a close up of the master holding a sculpture of a bird by its stone base. It is dated April 25, 1958.

Picasso's signature is bold, inscribed on the image which measures 4 x 5 ¾ inches.

In other Picasso news, an artwork by him unseen in public for 43 years and never before offered at auction sold at Christie's on February 2.

Tete de Femme (Jacqueline), a portrait of his second wife from 1963, realised a final hammer price of £8.1m.
