Francisco Toledo (b. 1940), widely regarded as Mexico's greatest living artist, will feature in a Mexico City auction later today - with live internet bidding so that collectors all over the world can get involved.
Toledo's artwork, Los tres cochinitos, Firmada al reverso, Mixta sobre madera (or "The Three Little Pigs, Signed on back, mixed media on wood") demonstrates his ongoing fascination with nature's aesthetics.
In particular, the artist often relies on depictions of unusual animals to draw comparisons between human beings and the animal world, implying that they are "at one" within nature.

The three-dimensional art piece features the eponymous three pigs, portrayed as both playful and monstrous, in an ambitious work showcasing Toledo's multiple talents as a painter, sculptor and ceramist.
Measuring 53 x 58cm, Toledo's work will be put up for sale by Morton Auctioneers with a pre-sale estimate of £14,717-21,024.
The auction takes place later today (June 3, 7pm Central Daylight Time; or June 4, 1am British Summer Time).
