A contemporary 20" All-Over Bouquet leaded glass lamp designed and executed by glass artist Joseph Porcelli was the surprise performer James D Julia's recent Lamp & Glass Auction.
Porcelli's unique lamp realised a remarkable $19,837, almost two times its estimated pre-sale value of $8,000-10,000.
According to a new statement released by the auction house, the sale "marks an important turn in collectors' interests in contemporary leaded glass work."
The 20" Bouquet is the second Porcelli lamp sold by the auction house, after auctioning the artist's 22" Spidermum lamp back in June, 2009.

The Spidermum lamp was another success, bringing $17,250, almost $5,000 over its pre-sale estimate.
Elsewhere in the sale, lots included impressive offering of works from the Tiffany, Gallé, Stueben and Handel Studios among other important glass works.
According to James D Julia, its sale has become a important event in the annual auction season, attracting some of the finest works, and enthusiastic collectors and dealers in the field.
The artist Joseph Porcelli is also a painter and author specialising in leaded glass lamp design, fabrication and restoration. He maintains a studio in Newtown, Bucks County, Pennsylvania.
