Van Gogh's Le Moulin de la Galette (1887), one of a series produced shortly before his suicide, is to feature in a sale at the TEFAF art fair in Maastricht on March 14-23.

It was formerly in the collection of Charles Engelhard, the founder of Engelhard Minerals and Chemicals Corporation, and the inspiration for the character of Goldfinger in Ian Fleming's James Bond series.
Art dealer Dickinson will run the sale, with spokesperson James Roundell telling the Guardian newspaper: "This is a painting that has everything. It is rare to have such a prominent signature in a work of this date and it is one of only two of his series of paintings depicting windmills of Montmartre still in private hands."
