Bugs Bunny made his first "official" appearance on our movie screens 70 years ago today in the Merrie Melodies short film A Wild Hare.
As this clip explains, a Bugs prototype had appeared in the 1938 short Porky's Hare Hunt, although he still had some way to go before emerging as the carrot munching wise-guy with the New York accent that we know so well today.
Bugs has enraptured children for the past seven decades, which helps explain why collectibles connected with the rabbit continue to be so sought after, as fans buy up memorabilia from their childhood.
Collectors looking to bring cartoon capers into their portfolio may be interested in this original drawing of Bugs by Looney Tunes artist Friz Frelang.
