The museum paid a world cameo glass record of $263,225 for the item at Bonhams in May.
Crafted in 1896, it was produced by brothers Thomas and George Woodall and is engraved with a Pompeian scene, in which two putti catch a semi-clad maiden unaware on her terrace. The brothers achieved fame in the 19th century for reviving the Roman tradition.
The Chrysler Museum already owns the partner of The Attack, The Intruders, and the two will be reunited in the museum's glass collection, which is considered one of the finest in the world.
