The highlights include large ink signatures from John Adams and George Washington, as well as an 1861-dated letter from Abraham Lincoln that references events at the beginning of the civil war.
The collection includes a signature from William H Harrison, which is particularly rare as he was only in office for a few weeks before his premature death.
A handwritten manuscript from Henri de-Tolouse Lautrec is another highlight, with bidding at $6,050.
It tells the story of Hercules and Cacus and features illustrations in Lautrec's inimitable style.
The auction house comments: "The first Lautrec we have offered with his rare "Monfa" signature (the conclusion of his complete family name, Toulouse-Lautrec-Monfa, referring back to the village in southern France whence his descendants came), and holding multiple sketches in his easily recognizable style—including two of horses, which frequently appeared in his work—this is by far the finest piece we have ever offered from the bohemian master."
