A photograph of a young girl on Eastbourne beach taken by Lewis Carroll made £5,250 ($8,737) at Bonhams London on March 19.
The lot features a dedication in purple ink that reads, "for Miss Symonds from CL Dodgson, a memento of the beach at Eastbourne in the summer of 1883".

The girl is thought to be Eleanor Winifred 'Winnie' Howes - the daughter of a family friend.
