Thomas Pynchon-inscribed V to sell for $25,000?

An inscribed copy of Thomas Pynchon's V is up for auction at PBA Galleries.

The lot is expected to realise around $15,000-25,000 on November 19.

Pynchon V PBA
V is Pynchon's first novel and was published in 1963

It's inscribed to Pynchon's publisher and reads: "To Herb Yellin - I've been reading this over. It's not such a terrific book, is it? Thomas Pynchon."

The auction house comments: "Inscribed copies of Pynchon's works are extremely uncommon. Pynchon's signature is among the rarest of any living author.

"He is ranked by Time magazine as one of the top ten most reclusive celebrities, joined on the list by the likes of J.D. Salinger, Howard Hughes, Marcel Proust, Emily Dickinson, etc."
