A set of books co-written by Charles Darwin, narrating the voyage of the Beagle, sold at Dreweatts and Bloomsbury in London on December 18 - achieving £14,880 ($24,334).
They document the five-year voyage from England to South America and Australia, which began in 1831 and led to the development of Darwin's theory of evolution.

It was written by the chief members of the expedition, including Darwin, and was the personal copy of John Lort Stokes - a naval officer who shared a cabin with the scientist.
