Bonham's Auctions are selling a logbook from the famous 1872-1876 journey of the H.M.S. Challenger with a £10,000-12,000 estimate.
Just 13 years after Darwin's Origin of the Species was published, the Challenger was tasked with compiling a fossil record that would test Darwin's theory of evolution.
The Challenger expedition resulted in 30,000 pages of type, 3,000 lithographs, and over 200 maps with 5,000 previously unknown species catalogued.
It is still considered one of the largest research projects of all time.
Challenger had sailed an incredible 68,890 miles by the time the expedition was completed.
