A first edition copy of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus has provided the highlight of the London International Antiquarian Book Fair.

The much-lauded horror classic, which was published anonymously over three volumes in 1818, sold for £110,000 ($172, 316). Offered by Peter Harrington of London, it was purchased by an anonymous US collector.
The London International Antiquarian Book Fair was held 13-15 June, with a record 186 exhibitors in attendance. The fair also saw an 18% increase on the number of visitors it received in 2012, demonstrating the strength of the rare book market.
