A second edition copy of horror writer HP Lovecraft's The Shunned House is offered at Nate D Sanders.
|
The novel was originally intended to be published by The Recluse Press in 1928. A run of around 250 copies was printed, but not bound, as Recluse (a tiny imprint) could not afford to do so.
In 1959 a set of around 150 copies of these pages was acquired by Arkham House - a publisher set up by two of Lovecraft's friends to issue his work in hardcover.
This is the rarest book in the publisher's catalogue.
Only around 100 copies were ever released.
It's valued in excess of $7,000.
