King Edward VIII Western Front photographs could make up to $13,000

An album of photographs of the Western Front taken by King Edward VIII (then Prince Edward) in 1915 is up for auction at Bonhams London on October 1 with a valuation of £6,000-8,000 ($9,785-13,046).

Edward would later abdicate to marry Wallis Simpson

Bonhams comments: "Prince Edward had been very keen to participate in World War One, he had joined the Grenadier Guards in June 1914, but Lord Kitchener disallowed him from fighting at the Front lest he should be captured by the Germans.

"None the less he visited the front line as often as possible and became popular with the soldiers."

The 650-piece lot shows an incredible range of images, from bombed out trench landscapes to images of the future king himself.

We have this handwritten letter from Wallis Simpson, whom Edward would marry in 1937.
