They realised a total of £7,000 ($11,880) at the railwayana auction in London on June 12 - up 40% on a £5,000 ($8,486) estimate.
Both books date to the mid-19th century and offer fascinating views of the two lines. They were described as being in particularly good condition, marred only by some light spotting, and are exceptionally rare.
