An original double page spread from the classic Tintin story King Ottakar's Sceptre sold for $1.7m at Sotheby's Paris on October 24.

The work was published in Le Petit Vingtieme in 1939 and offers an exceptional example of Herge's clear line style - which eschews crosshatching in favour of solid lines.
A page of drawings by Herge, featuring various characters from the Tintin stories, sold for a world record $3.7m in a 2014 auction.
