A 1947 Vespa Rod scooter is valued at up to $40,000 in a sale at Neale and Sons in Saratoga, California on July 9.
Early production Vespas are in high demand
The model is one of the first 19,000 Vespas made.
It’s in reasonably good condition, retaining most of its original features.
The Vespa was invented in post-war Italy, as a cheap and fast way to get around the bombed out cities.
Earlier this year the world’s oldest Vespa (one of the first 60 prototypes built) sold for £158,427 ($202,723) at Catawiki.
