Bonhams' The Zoute Sale, held during the Zoute Grand Prix Rally in Belgium on October 11, has been led by a 1957 Maserati A6G/54, as the auction house continues a strong run of classic car sales.

The Mille Miglia eligible Maserati sold for an impressive $685,026. The sale marked the first time that this example had ever been offered at auction.
When Maserati resumed post-war production in 1947, the company not only continued building Grand Prix cars but also began producing sports-racing and road cars. The first road-going model - the A6 1500 - made a sensational public debut at the 1947 Geneva Salon.
The A6G/54 was introduced at the 1954 Paris Salon, and was clearly aimed as those seeking road-going practicality with the ability to perform in competitions. This example - chassis 2116 - is one of 21 Allemano-bodied examples.
It retains its original engine which, along with the gearbox, underwent a total rebuild earlier this year. It is believed to have covered just 103,200 km from new, and retains its original colour scheme.

Further Mille Miglia eligible cars included the 1954 Alfa Romeo 1900C Sprint Series 2 Coupe, which sold for $217,963.
Shown at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance in 1999, the car has participated in various esteemed events, and represented a rare opportunity to own a fully restored example of the Alfa Romeo 1900c, a sought after post-war model.
