The Corvette was produced between 1953 and 1962 and ultimately proved popular with the American public, although it did not become the icon that it is today overnight.
The 1961 model is easily identifiable by its four taillights, while the engine featured a substantial increase in horsepower.
Only 10,939 were produced in that year at a price of $3,934, a figure that equates to around $30,650 today.
A 1958 Chevrolet Impala two door is another highlight of the sale, also valued at $40,000-50,000.
The first generation Impalas featured subtly sculpted tailfins, a move away from the sharper examples featured on past iterations, and around 125,480 examples were produced.
In 2005, a convertible Impala sold for $170,000 at Kruse International in Auburn, Indiana.
A 1972 Chevrolet Chevelle is also featured, with an identical estimate of $40,000-50,000.
The model became one of the best selling American cars of its era, with the example in the sale featuring a powerful 402 engine.
