A 2011 Lotus E20 F1 racing car has sold for $63,890 in a charity auction hosted by Bonhams in Singapore.
The lot was auctioned yesterday to benefit Peace One Day, which leads the campaign for the September 21 International Day of Peace.
The Lotus E20 was raced by F1 driver Kimi Raikkonen |
It features a custom paintjob from Brazilian artist Romero Britto, whose work has appeared in numerous high profile advertising campaigns.
The car was exhibited at the city's Museum of Art and Design prior to the sale.
Malcolm Barber, Bonhams' co-chairman, explained: "The E20 model was driven by World Champion racing driver Kimi Raikkonen and Romain Grosjean and Jerome D'Ambrosio during the 2012 FIA F1 racing season including a race win at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix event.
"The particular chassis offered is the launch car which was unveiled to the media on February 5th 2012.
"Retained within the Lotus F1 factory for Research & Development purposes, it is an excellent example of race car design."
Michael Schumacher's 1997 Ferrari F310, which he raced in that season's final Grand Prix in Andalucia, is to cross the block at Auctionata on September 26.
