Artcurial’s upcoming Mercedes-Benz auction features an incredible line-up of classic motors from the marque’s long history.
Most are consigned from the collection of Mercedes-Benz France.
The 300 SL is one of Mercedes-Benz's most celebrated models
Among the highlights is a silver 1955 300 SL, offered with a valuation of up to $1.5m.
The car is mechanically original; with only minor repairs carried out since it was acquired for the company collection in 1994.
The 300 SL is among the marque’s most desirable cars, feted for its extraordinary good looks and delectable handling.
A rare specimen constructed from aluminium alloy achieved $4.6m in 2012.
A 600 Pullman limousine, from the motor pool of the Congolese embassy in Germany, is expected to make $473,200-591,500.
“Organising a unique sale with a marque as prestigious as Mercedes-Benz will give collectors the chance to immerse themselves in the history of the automobile” said Matthieu Lamoure, managing director of Artcurial’s motoring department.
“What an opportunity for an enthusiast to acquire a classic model from the manufacturer itself!”
2017 is shaping up to be a great year for Mercedes-Benz.
HAGI’s September index shows sales for the marque up 11.1% for the year - considerably higher than Ferrari, the index’s traditional front-runner.
This sale looks set to boost collectors’ interest still further.
