Bugatti Type 57s to top the bill at RM Auctions' London sale

Two fantastic Bugatti Type 57s will join a roster of top collector cars at RM Auctions' annual London sale, held on September 8 in the UK capital.

Bugatti Type 57 Ventoux
The Type 57 is one of Bugatti's most famous designs, with later variants including the auction record-breaking Atlantic

The Bugattis hail from the 1930s, each offering a beautiful variation on one of the marque's finest ever models.

A 1937 Type 57C with Stelvio coachwork by Gangloff is valued at £595,000-715,000 ($1m-$1.2m), while a 1938 example by Ventoux is estimated to sell at £300,000-335,000 ($509,457-586,894).

The Type 57 is derived from Bugatti's Grand Prix-winning cars of the 1930s, but was produced for the consumer market. With a straight eight-cylinder supercharged engine, it offered exceptional performance combined with the luxury of selecting different coach built bodies.

The 1938 Ventoux-bodied example was delivered new to Bugatti's Swiss agent and remains in highly original condition, while the 1937 model was delivered to Lyon and spent much of its life in France.

Also starring is a line-up of 20 superb Ferraris, 12 of which originate from a single Swiss collection. The star of the selection is a 1966 Ferrari 275 GTB, chassis 8199, which is estimated at £1.9m-2.2m ($3.2m-3.7m).

Steve McQueen's 1967 275 GTB/4 will be offered by RM Auctions in Monterey in August, alongside a 1964 Ferrari 275 GTB/C Speciale, which looks set to break records for the model.
