A 1958 BMW Abbate V8 is one of the highlights of Bonhams' Power by BMW auction, which will take place in Munich during the first weekend of October.
One of only two ever made, the BMW Abbate V8 is estimated to sell for €175,000 - 240,000.
The innovative idea to use an adapted BMW powered engine came from the semi-professional racing driver and preparer of racing cars, Helm Gloeckler.

He was also a keen speedboat driver and water skier and envisioned an ambitious combination of an ultra-light BMW all aluminium V8 engine powering an elegant Italian mahogany boat.
As a result Gloeckler partnered with Giulio Abbate, a member of one of Italy's most famous boat builder families, and together they realised the project by modifying the BMW V8 engine.
Gloeckler's boat not only served his personal ambitions but became an admired show-piece for BMW technology.
Philip Kantor, head of Bonhams' European Motoring Division, comments: "We had not originally planned to include boats in the auction, however upon inspection of this particular Abbate BMW 507 powered runabout we knew it would fit the theme of the auction.
"It has everything going for it: great looks, great history and a great engine. Who could resist?"
The sale will also feature a unique 1969 BMW Spicup concept car, which remains fit to drive.
