A 1964 Ferrari 250 LM Berlinetta will be the star lot of RM Auctions' Art of the Automobile sale on November 21 in New York, where it is expected to sell in excess of $12m.
The Berlinetta, chassis number 6107, features a mid-mounted 3.3 litre V-12 engine and a beautifully contoured, muscular frame.
It was bought by two Raceco drivers, Guillermo Ortega and Fausto Merello, in 1968 and competed in the 24 Hours of Daytona that year - where it finished 8th overall and 1st in its class.

It returned to Daytona in 1969, driven by legendary Ferrari driver Umberto Maglioli. Throughout the intervening years, 6107 was raced extensively throughout South America and Japan.
Few 250 LMs are in existence today, and even fewer with comparably illustrious racing records.
Ian Kelleher, car specialist at RM Auctions, said "Alongside the iconic 250 GTO, the 250 LM is one of the most coveted and collectible Ferraris of all time.
"We are honoured to have been entrusted with the upcoming sale of 6107. It's a terrific addition to our New York auction, and we expect its first public offering in decades will attract the attention of the world's top collectors."
The auction is being held in association with Sotheby's and will also feature a restored 1936 Talbot-Lago T150C cabriolet by Figoni el Falaschi, regarded as one of the finest examples of French automotive design, with an estimate of $8m-10m.
A total of 25 cars will be offered at the auction, which will "celebrate the motor car and its place in the history of design".
