The car brought a total of $60,300, having recently undergone a full and time-consuming restoration.
The matching numbers Mark 1 was originally purchased by Hugh Auchincloss, who was the stepfather of Jackie Kennedy, after marrying her mother, Janet, in 1942.
The vehicle was, at the time, the fastest luxury sedan available. The Jaguar Mark 1 boasts a 210 hp engine and can reach top speeds of over 120mph.
John F Kennedy is known to have spent significant periods at Auchincloss' Merrywood estate in Virginia, most notably while recovering from two back operations and while writing his Pulitzer Prize-winning book, Profile of Courage.
During these visits, the Mark 1 was always made available for his or Jackie's use, as well as during their summer vacations from the White House.
In 1996, Sotheby's auctioned the Merrywood estate for $15m.
In January 2012, the hearse that carried the president's body after he was assassinated sold for $176,000 at Barratt-Jackson's Scottsdale auction.
Paul Fraser Collectibles has an astonishing selection of President Kennedy memorabilia for sale, including a touching photograph signed by all of the Kennedy family, an original press release from the Cuban Missile Crisis and strands of hair from both Jackie and John.
