A 1954 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL driven by legendary British racing driver Stirling Moss will feature at Bonhams' July 12 auction in Stuttgart, Germany.
Moss used the car in his reconnaissance run prior to the 1955 Mille Miglia road race in Italy. It was used extensively throughout the 1950s and has been fully restored to its original specifications.

James Knight, group motoring director at Bonhams, commented: "This is arguably the most historic 300SL Gullwing extant and is the latest consignment to the auction at the Mercedes-Benz museum in Stuttgart.
A Gullwing owned by Clark Gable made $2m at Barrett-Jackson in January 2013. The car's desirability is such that they achieve strong figures at auction even if there is no celebrity link, with one example selling at RM Auctions in London last year for £739,000 ($1.1m).
