A Porsche RS 61 Spyder is among the top consignments to RM Auctions' Arizona sale, which will take place on January 16-17 in Phoenix.

The auction will be held to coincide with 2014's Scottsdale auctions, one of the largest car events of the year. The Porsche, a spectacular model boasting superb racing pedigree, will sell with a $2.8m-3.2m estimate.
The 1960 Porsche 718 RS 61 Spyder was once driven by legendary racers Bob Donner and Bob Wester. Its racing career spans 1961-1964, and includes many podium finishes at Sports Car Club of America and United States Road Racing Championship events.
In stunning condition, it has recently received a beautiful restoration, bringing it back to its original specification.
The RS 61 Spyder will be joined by another 1960s racer from the German marque, the 1966 Porsche 906 Carrera 6. Boasting a lengthy European racing history, including first place finishes at the 1968 Norisring and the 1969 Hochenheim Finale, it is one of only three street legal examples and will sell with a $1.2m-1.6m estimate.

Part of a trio of Porsches that will lead bids in Arizona, the RS 61 Spyder and Carrera 6 are joined by a 1957 Porsche 356 A Carrera 1500 Speedster valued at $1.1m-1.5m.
