A Yorkshire businessman will add Winston Churchill's Morris Oxford to his classic car collection following an auction in Perthshire, Scotland on March 9.
![]() Morris' Oxford series ran from 1913 to 1971. This example, not Churchill's but very similar, is the 1959 Series V Saloon |
The classic British-made car started at £35,000, and was eventually secured by the Yorkshire collector at £51,000 ($77,075). The 1964 model was registered to Churchill's name from new, and was the last private car the wartime leader ever owned.
In October 2012, a Series 1 Land Rover also owned by Churchill auctioned for £129,000 ($206,933). It seems the patriotic prime minister had a penchant for only the most quintessentially British motors.
